Final stage: Forcasting

Here comes to the final stage of this project: Forecasting.

I am going to forecast the colors that will be used by Dolce&Gabanna in Fall Winter 2009/2010.

Before presenting my ideas about forecasted colors, I would like to share my feeling during the past months first. At the very beginning, my group mates and I chose Dolce&Gabanna as the brand we studied with no argument. We are all interested in this high fashion brand, feeling pleasure to do the analyzing and forecasting work for it. We are delighted to do a project with few limitations. It provides a lot of room for us to elaborate and express our ideas and we can do it in our own ways. This is what we all appreciate.

However, as this is a continuous assessment, it is important for us to keep working everyday. This is the largest challenge I have ever met in university. Frankly, facing the pushing of numerous projects and assignment of other subjects, I became weak, I was defeated and I have no confident to do any analyses around the brand. Luckily, I was cheered up by Robert in one of his tutorial lesson. He emphasized that it is necessary for us, university students, to set a higher demand for ourselves, and at the same time urge ourselves to reach it. After the lesson, I woke up. I tried to keep working on this project. There is a sense of pride when telling other I was working hard on my ’blog’. Thanks Robert!

Let’s back to our topic, analyzing and forecasting.
Here are my forecasted colors:
Red, White, Grey, Black

In the past March, I put a lot of time and effort on studying Dolce&Gabanna. I read about its background, analyzed its fall winter collection, look for its advertisement. According to my research, I believe Dolce&Gabanna will use these colors as the basic colors in Fall Winter 2009/2010.

Dolce&Gabanna is a brand with long history. Looking back to its history, its main status was always occupied by White, Grey and Black. These colors provide a feeling of generous, classic and luxury which match Dolce&Gabanna’s brand image very much. From the time Dolce&Gabanna established, it started to adopted White, Grey and Black as the main colors of its fashion. Therefore, it is said that, these three colors is the traditional colors of Dolce&Gabanna. We can all check about its collections that never depart from these colors.

Dolce&Gabanna gets used to adopted classic color and classic materials, but with special designs or charming patterned fabrics. Therefore, it is no surprises that I choose White, Grey and Black as my forecast.

As I said, Dolce&Gabanna like to use charming patterned fabric on its fashion. I believe that Black x White Zebra Printed will be adopted by its designers in the collection in Fall Winter 2009/2010. This painted will be as hit as the leopard printed used in 2007/2008 collection. Black x White together with patterned fabric will be a great selling point. It is the most appropriate for the character of Dolce&Gabanna.

How about Red? Why would I choose it as my forecast? It seems that it is not a dark color and it is not match with winter. However, using Red is also one of the traditions of Dolce&Gabanna. As I see, designers of Dolce&Gabanna like to adopt Red, using as accessory. Red handbag, Red shoes, Red bow, Red necklace or Red scarf are always used to match with the main color theme. Red is regarded as ‘the embellishment’ in Dolce&Gabanna’s fashion.

Again, White, Grey and Black are the colors I forecast that Dolce&Gabanna will adopted in Fall Winter 2009/2010.

I am wondering if I am correct and I am now looking forward to get the result. haha. Kidding only. I am not guessing the color but I have done much analysis work. No matter I forecast it correctly or wrongly, I am happy to finish this project and learn a lot including analyzing and forecasting skills. This is the most meaningful project that I have ever done.

Dolce&Gabbana

Dolce&Gabbana is a high-end fashion house started by the Italian designers Domenico Dolce, born in Rome, Italy and Stefano Gabbana, born in Florence, Italy.

Dolce & Gabbana are very popular for their designs in the Hollywood industry; they have designed clothes for Madonna, Monica Bellucci, Ayumi Hamasaki, Isabella Rossellini and Kylie Minogue amongst others. The company is based in Milan.

The private life of Gabbana and Dolce's affairs became public in 2005, when they officially announced their separation. The company will still stay the same, and they will continue to design together.

Dolce & Gabbana is organized into two central lines for adults: D&G and Dolce&Gabbana.
D&G generally forms the group's more casual lines with slightly cheaper prices and follows an urban inspiration. D&G follows the trends of culture of the time and is trend-setting, whereas Dolce&Gabbana centralizes on luxury materials and is slightly more expensive than the latter. Dolce&Gabbana does not change as much as D&G, and is influenced by sartorial designs, it is described as "timeless".

Dolce&Gabanna Fall Winter 2007/08 (2)

This collection not only with leopard printed, but also with Gold, with Black, with Red.
Using Gold and Red accessories to match with some other colours can always be seen in D&G fashion.
They are almost the tradition in D&G.

Bow was added in leopard painted ready-to-wear.
A little bit cute is brought by the bows apart from fierce of leopard painted.

Dolce&Gabanna Fall Winter 2007/08

Dolce&Gabanna Fall Winter 2007-08

MILAN, February 19, 2007
As she struts down the runway with a long stick-thin cigarette in between her slender fingers, it looks like the D&G girl has finally grown up! But wait a minute! Who said anything about covering up? Because for sure, somethings never change! Her skirts are as short as ever and she - with her leopard printed skirts, dresses, shirts, bow ties and well... simply everything! - is as fierce as ever! Look closer! Is she the lady? Or the tiger? Either way, she owns it and you know it for sure!
